Co-authored by Murphy Library’s Laura Godden and Paul Beck, La Crosse shares a social history of the city as told through the postcard. This book features over two hundred historic images that capture some of the city’s most pivotal developments around the turn of the twentieth century. Carefully selected, the postcards within represent the finest, as well as rare and unusual, visual representations of the community from Murphy Library’s Special Collections. The authors provide thematic chapter introductions and commentary for the images.
Published by Arcadia Publishing, the 128-page book will be of interest to anyone with La Crosse connections. Proceeds from the sale of this publication go to the Murphy Library Endowment Fund.
