University Staff Council Showcase: Murphy Library
Who: All university employees
What: USC Showcase: Murphy Library
When: 2:30 – 4:00, March 22
Where: Room 150, Murphy Library
Murphy Library is not all about research and coursework! Come meet some new people and learn about the lesser-known but valuable resources that are especially relevant to UWL employees at the USC Showcase: Murphy Library event on Weds., March 22 from 2:30 – 4:00, in Room 150 Murphy Library. All UWL employees are invited!
We’ll start with refreshments and networking at 2:30, followed by a brief program at 3:00 in which you’ll be introduced to the various units within the Murphy Library Resource Center building, including the Access Center, the Learning Center, Murphy Library, and Upward Bound. Then people will have a chance to explore different areas within the library and get a closer look at useful services and resources.
A special emphasis will be placed on resources that can benefit UWL employees in their professional lives as well as in their personal lives. Some things that participants will learn about include:
- The many subscriptions to online magazines and trade journals that focus on specific parts of higher education – find out which ones relate to your area and how you can easily get access to and use them.
- The many resources related to medical, legal, financial, and consumer topics, which can help you make informed decisions in everything from buying a new toaster to understanding your or a colleague’s health situations.
- Leisure materials – which include books, DVDs, streaming video and audio, children’s materials, and more – that can contribute to a healthy work/life balance.
- Local and regional historical materials – both in print and online – to learn about the university, your neighborhood, your ancestors, and more.
We look forward to seeing you at the USC Showcase: Murphy Library at 2:30 pm on Wednesday, March 22, in Room 150, Murphy Library. All employees are invited for refreshments, networking, and learning!
